《우리는 세상 밖으로 떨어질 수 없다 Out of this Sea We Cannot Fall》 은 바다를 매개로 전승된 동아시아 설화가 서로 다른 지역성과 역사성을 횡단하며 축적해온 서사의 궤적을 추적한다. 바다는 지리적 배경이자 설화가 이동하고 변형되며 새로운 장소성과 기억을 생성하는 서사의 매개이자 통로로 작동한다. 이 과정에서 포착되는 상승과 하강, 이주와 귀환, 소멸과 재생의 구조는 회화적 언어를 통해 감각적인 지형으로 펼쳐진다. 또한 설화가 역사를 기억하는 방식이 동시대의 풍경과 어떻게 교차하고 충돌하는지 살펴본다. 2020년부터 황해(서해) 연안의 과거의 역사적 사건과 현재의 풍경을 리서치하며 진행해온 《파시波市_Lost village on the sea》 프로젝트는 물고기가 북상했다가 다시 남하하며 이어지는 회유처럼 황해를 지나 동중국해로 흐르고 있다. 그 세 번째 여정인 동시에 지속적으로 확장되는 항해의 잠정적 경유지이기도 하다.

This exhibition traces the trajectories of narratives accumulated through East Asian folklore transmitted by the sea as they traverse different regionalities and historical contexts. The sea is both a geographical setting and a narrative medium and conduit through which folklore travels, transforms, and generates new senses of place and memory. In this process, structures of ascent and descent, migration and return, disappearance and regeneration unfold as sensorial landscapes through the language of painting. The exhibition also examines how folklore remembers history and how these modes of remembering intersect and collide with contemporary landscapes. Since 2020, 《Pasi(波市)_Lost Village on the Sea》 Project has developed through research into historical events and present-day landscapes along the coast of the Yellow Sea(West Sea). Like the migratory paths of fish moving north before returning south, the project continues to flow beyond the Yellow Sea toward the East China Sea. This exhibition marks the third chapter of that journey while remaining a provisional waypoint in a voyage that continues to unfold.
